St. John's Day School

At SJDS we encourage children to be actively involved in the learning process by exploring a wide variety of developmentally appropriate activities and materials in an environment planned for the child. This means a variety of opportunities to learn in a warm, developmentally appropriate environment.

About SJDS

Mission Statement
St. John’s Day School Embraces Children and Invites Them To Love Christ, To Love Learning, And To Love All People!!

Toddler Classes: Ages 12 months-36 months

The children practice important social skills such as trusting others outside their families and gaining independence. In addition, assertiveness is learned in socially acceptable ways through participating in daily circle time and attending chapel and music weekly.

The Caterpillars: Ages 2.5-3 years

A typical day includes group time, story time, small motor activities, free-play, and other age-appropriate learning experiences.

The Butterflies: Ages 3-4 years

Thematic units are used in promoting sensory-based learning, and an overview of the alphabet is incorporated during the school year.

Pre-Kindergarten: 4-5 years

The learning environment in the classroom is geared toward developing social, academic, and behavioral skills in order to promote a smooth transition to Kindergarten.

 Pre-Kindergarten: 5 years

Our FIVES class is specifically designed for children who are eligible to attend Kindergarten but need an additional year of preschool to make the transition.

Experiences for Your Children:
• Chapel: The children attend Chapel (provided by the clergy) where they are taught a different Biblical theme each week.
• Music: Music class is provided once a week for our students.
• Playground: SJDS features a newly renovated playground, and all classes have at least 30 minutes of playground time each day.
