A Letter from Fr. Chris on the Election

November 6, 2024

 Dear Saints of St. John’s,

Our parish family is a healthy mix of Republicans, Democrats, and Independents. A blessing of who we are as followers of Jesus Christ is that we are bound together in love. Part of love is mutual respect across differences.

For those who mourn the results of the election, place your trust in Jesus Christ, knowing that no matter who resides in the White House, God’s Kingdom is bigger, perfect, and eternal.

For those who celebrate the outcome, it is an invitation to humility, recognizing that no one person is our Savior but Jesus Christ. This is the opportunity for the victors to demonstrate true care for those on the other side, demonstrating and proving that a unified America is a sincere desire.

The rhetoric should now be over. Now is the time to be neither gloomy nor gloating, but to keep our eyes not on Washington, D.C., but on God’s Kingdom of Heaven, now and forever as we pray, “Our help is in the Name of the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth” (Ps. 124:8).

 In Peace and Hope,

 Chris
